Kootenay Acres is a hobby farm turned farm sanctuary located in the West Kootenays. We specialize in special needs animals and farm rescues/rehomes.
Our Mission:
Is to provide a safe haven for farm animals, promote responsible and humane treatment of all animals, and advocate for animals traditionally used for farming as companions.
How we will achieve this:
- Community Outreach
- Social Media postings and educational content
- Sanctuary tours (coming soon!)
Kootenay Acres Farm Sanctuary is a registered non-profit.
*Apologies, we have not been proactive in replying to private tours, if you are interested, we will be scheduling tours for the fall of 2026.*
We are now accepting private tours by donation on SATURDAYS . Please note, we are not a petting zoo, and while some animals enjoy being touched, others appreciate their space. Loud noises or movements, running, chasing is not tolerated. You are required to stay with your guide at all times.
Start time for tours are as below:
10:00am
11:00am
1:00pm
Suggested donation: $25/adult, $10/youth/child
We can offer tours to community and school groups on a sliding scale group rate. Please email us for more information.
Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent.
